This paper presents a comparative analysis between the classic version of “The Frog Prince”, compiled by the Brothers Grimm, and its modern adaptation in Disney's The Princess and the Frog (2009), with the aim of exploring how female stereotypes are represented in both narratives. While the princess in the original version is portrayed as a passive and dependent figure, whose destiny is defined by an act of obedience and a magical transformation, in Disney's adaptation, Princess Tiana, she is portrayed as a strong, independent, and ambitious African American woman who strives to fulfill her dreams through effort and perseverance. Through this analysis, I observe that although the modern version presents a significant change, I believe it remains important in the representation of women as it reflects progress and the breaking of traditional prejudices. This analysis shows that children's stories not only entertain, but also positively or negatively influence perceptions of gender roles from childhood onward. Therefore, I believe it is essential to critically review these narratives to promote more inclusive and empowering representations of women in today's society.
Luisa Fernanda Angulo Mosquera Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-07-01 2025-07-01 1 1 10.26752/tr.v1i1.767 A Savior Complex and Household Chores: The Prince's Role in the Brothers Grimm’s Cinderella https://revistas.juanncorpas.edu.co/index.php/traditori/article/view/768
Tales have established the gender role, and children have grown up following these stereotypes. The hero archetype proposed by Jung shows how it is composed and gives the origin of those stereotypes. In Cinderella tales, the hero archetype is portrayed mixed with a savior complex that the prince has. Furthermore, it shows how it is perpetuated by actions from the prince and princess. The preferred form is the short poem, ranging from haiku, in the broadest sense of the term, to other types of concise compositions, where synthesis is often the protagonist. Composed mainly in Portuguese, but also in Spanish, the sensitivity of the poetry published here encourages different forms of reflection.
Yuliet Solangy Cely Nathaly Mishell Diaz Luisa Paola Gonzalez Maria Paula Neiza Juan David Vela Luisa Fernanda Angulo Maicol Sebastian Rodriguez Sarai Daniela Comezaquira Sharon Michell Sanchez Maria Paula Suarez Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-07-01 2025-07-01 1 1 10.26752/tr.v1i1.772 Translation of Four English Literature Treasures - Christopher Marlowe https://revistas.juanncorpas.edu.co/index.php/traditori/article/view/771
Christopher Marlowe (1564-1593) was an English playwright, poet, and translator of the Elizabethan period, considered one of the precursors of Shakespeare. A hug? Calling a family member? Talking one last time to the love of your life? Arandir, a married man, kisses another man on the mouth, who has just been hit by a car, thus fulfilling his last wish before dying. The scene is witnessed by Amado Ribeiro, a journalist who decides to take advantage of the episode. With the case in the spotlight, Arandir isolates himself, suffering from the disbelief of everyone around him, and finds himself compelled to a fate he cannot change. Sexuality, intrigue, unethical behavior by the press and police, and family crisis are the ingredients of this play by Nelson Rodrigues, written in 1960.
María Camila Gómez Vanegas Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-07-01 2025-07-01 1 1 10.26752/tr.v1i1.769 Desterrados: Chronicles of Uprooting, by Alfredo https://revistas.juanncorpas.edu.co/index.php/traditori/article/view/770
In Desterrados: crónicas del desarraigo (Exiles: Chronicles of Uprooting), Alfredo Molano weaves together, through a testimonial and ethnographic narrative, the harsh reality in which the armed conflict in Colombia has buried the slow lands, the peasants, and the most human aspects of life, turning nature into a direct witness to how violence exiles, kills, suffocates, and abandons.
Sebastian Fuentes-Medina Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0 2025-07-01 2025-07-01 1 1 10.26752/tr.v1i1.770
