Author Guidelines

Submission dates:

Traditori, a biannual digital magazine, invites submissions twice a year. Proposals for the first issue of the semester must be submitted between February and March for publication in June. Proposals for the second semester of the year are accepted between June and August and are published in November. Proposals submitted outside these deadlines will be considered for the next issue. Articles that do not fit the current thematic calls for submissions may also be submitted. To this end, the magazine will have a miscellaneous section that will allow for the inclusion of texts that respond to the general editorial lines, such as translation, gender studies, critical pedagogy, literature, and sociolinguistic phenomena from critical perspectives.

Evaluation process:

The journal is committed to disseminating original academic work that contributes to the advancement of knowledge in its field. To ensure the quality and academic integrity of its publications, all manuscripts received undergo a double-blind peer review process, in which neither the authors know the identity of the reviewers nor the reviewers know the identity of the authors. This process ensures impartiality, objectivity, and transparency in the selection of articles.

Type of articles:

Literary discussion: Literary analysis articles are published in Portuguese, English, and Spanish. The maximum number of pages is 12. The following structure is suggested: Title, Summary, Abstract and keywords, Introduction, Phenomenon to be analyzed, Analysis of the work, Conclusions, and References.

Literary translation: Translations of all types of literature are accepted (short stories, essays, poetry, chronicles, etc.). The following structure is suggested: Author, source text, target text, and translator's notes. It is important to have the copyright, unless the work to be translated is in the public domain. To confirm these rights, consult the public domain calculator.

Theater translation: Translations of literary works, scripts, or any type of text intended for the stage are accepted. The format must include clear dialogue and stage directions, highlighting any elements relevant to the performance. As with literary translation proposals, the plays to be submitted must have copyright or be in the public domain

Literary creation: The creation of original literary works such as short stories, chronicles, essays, and poetry is encouraged. The works must be unpublished, with a coherent structure and consistent style. The number of pages for short stories, chronicles, and essays should not exceed 10. In the case of poetry, proposals of up to 6 poems are accepted.

Reviews: Reviews of books from any period or literary movement are accepted. The works reviewed may be of any genre (novel, short story, poetry, essay, among others), provided that the text takes a critical, analytical, and reflective approach. Reviews must be unpublished, written in clear language, and have a coherent structure. A consistent style will be valued, as well as the ability to argue and the depth of analysis. The text should not exceed 5 pages.

Other studies: Original articles addressing topics of translation, gender studies, and sociolinguistic phenomena from critical, feminist, cultural, or discursive perspectives are accepted. Research articles on pedagogy are also accepted, provided they propose innovative approaches that contribute to new ways of teaching language, translation, or literature. Texts may be written in Spanish, English, or Portuguese, with a maximum length of 12 pages. Proposals that analyze the relationship between language, power, and identity are valued. The following structure is suggested: Title in Spanish and English, Summary (maximum 250 words), Abstract (English or Portuguese version of the summary), Introduction, Theoretical Approach, Methodology, Results, Conclusions, References.

Proposal submission format:

Those interested in submitting articles must ensure that they meet the following formal requirements when submitting their proposal:

File format: The document must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx). Proposals in PDF format will not be accepted.

Font style and layout: The text must be written in Times New Roman font, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing and standard margins (2.5 cm on each side). It is recommended that the text be justified for better visual presentation.

References: All citations and references must follow the Chicago Author-Date citation system. It is the author's responsibility to ensure the correct citation of bibliographic sources, as well as the inclusion of a complete list of references at the end of the document. Manuscript anonymity: The file must be submitted anonymously, removing any reference to the author's name, institutional affiliation, or other personal information from the body of the text, headers, footnotes, or file metadata. This measure ensures a double-blind peer review process. Proposals that do not comply with this condition will be rejected.

Academic identifiers: If the proposal is accepted for publication, an ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) and an updated Google Scholar profile will be required to facilitate the correct indexing and visibility of the article.
